"Naoki Mazaki" Stainless Silver 3 Steel Santoku Knife 165mm Kiri Box
This is a handmade forged knife by the young Mr. Naoki Mazaki.
A blacksmith shop in Niigata Sanjo. Mr. Mazaki is particular about forging and sharpening techniques. He carefully monitors the color of the flame, expertly forges the steel at precise temperatures, and even employs cold forging techniques to create a dense steel structure.
This makes it extremely hard and easy to sharpen with a whetstone.
Additionally, he meticulously chamfers by hand to ensure a perfect, smooth surface with no irregularities. This is also a hallmark of his craftsmanship.
Mr. Mazaki is from Hokkaido. At the age of 26, he encountered Sanjo's cutlery for the first time while traveling throughout Japan. This experience led him to become an apprentice to Mr. Tsuneo Yoshida, former president of Yoshikane Hamono. After six years of rigorous training, he established Masaki Forging Workshop with a strong commitment to manufacturing traditional, high-quality cutlery.
After becoming independent, he continued to improve his skills and studied under Kiyoshi Kato, a master craftsman known worldwide for his outstanding craftsmanship and who bears the name of "Yoshiaki Fujiwara."
